Case study
Richard's EV charger install
Watch our recent EV charger install in Bridport Dorset
Installation day
Richard from Dorset had already installed a home battery system with Evoflo and recently returned to us to add a SigEnergy EV charger to complete his smart energy setup. The 7kW single-phase unit was installed in his garage, allowing him to charge his vehicle directly from both solar energy and off-peak electricity - combining low-cost and low-carbon energy sources.
The charger was positioned exactly where Richard requested for easy driveway access, and the installation included a clean cable run from the charger, up and over the garage door, and into the existing consumer unit. The system is now fully integrated with his home battery and solar setup, giving him greater control over his energy usage and reducing reliance on the grid. It’s another example of how Evoflo’s tailored installations help customers maximise the value of their energy investments.
How it works
- Conduct initial consultation and site assessment
- Develop installation plan and confirm schedule
- Complete on-site installation (usually 1 day)
- Provide system walkthrough and knowledge transfer
- Ongoing aftercare and support

FAQs
Can an EV charger use both solar and off-peak electricity?
Yes - smart chargers like the SigEnergy EV charger can prioritise solar energy during the day and switch to off-peak electricity at night, helping you charge at the lowest cost and with the lowest carbon footprint.
Do I need a battery to make this work?
Not necessarily, but having a home battery system alongside your EV charger gives you even more flexibility - allowing you to store excess solar and use it for charging at any time, even overnight.
What size charger do I need for my home?
For most UK homes, a 7kW single-phase EV charger is ideal. It offers fast, efficient home charging without needing a three-phase upgrade, and is compatible with nearly all electric vehicles.
