Getting to know your Sigenergy system
A plain-English guide to the three parts of a Sigenergy system (the battery, the inverter and the gateway) and to the people who install it. Whether you have a quote from us or are just starting to look, it gives you what you need to decide, without having to read a datasheet.

Three parts do the work
Every system has a battery and an inverter. The gateway is an optional extra, for homes that want backup in a power cut.
The battery
Holds the electricity. It fills up on cheap overnight power, on your own solar, or both, then hands it back when you need it.
The inverter
Sigenergy calls it the Energy Controller. It turns battery power into the kind your home uses and decides, minute by minute, what to do.
The gateway (optional)
The backup switch. If the grid goes down, it keeps your chosen circuits running from the battery.
How it saves you money

-
Overnight: the battery charges while electricity is cheap.
-
During the day: your home runs on the battery, and on solar if you have it.
-
Evening peak: the battery covers the dearest hours.
A typical pattern on a smart tariff. Your own times and prices depend on your tariff. Once it is set up, the system looks after itself.
Battery on its own
It charges from the grid when electricity is cheap and powers your home when it is dear. This is how many of our customers save, without a single panel on the roof.
Battery with solar
Your own solar fills the battery during the day, so you buy less from the grid and use more of the electricity you generate. We can add solar now or leave room for it later.
Part one: the battery

Sigenergy's SigenStor battery is built from stackable modules, a bit like a tower of
building blocks. We choose how many from your actual electricity use, not from a one-
size-fits-all package.

Modular, so it fits
Each module stores roughly 5 to 9 kWh of usable energy, depending on the model. Your quote shows exactly which modules, and how many, are included.
Room to grow
You can start with what you need now and add modules later, up to six in one stack, including mixing sizes. We will confirm what is possible on your system when the time comes.
Safe by design
Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells, a chemistry widely regarded as one of the most stable. Each module has several layers of built-in protection, including fire safety features.
Indoors or out
The modules are rated IP66, which means dust-tight and protected against powerful water jets. A garage, utility room or sheltered outside wall can all work. We agree the best spot at survey.
Built to last
Sigenergy gives a 10-year manufacturer warranty on the battery modules, with a performance guarantee. Terms apply, and the system needs to stay online.
Part two: the inverter and app

Batteries and solar panels produce direct current. Your home runs on alternating current. The inverter converts between the two, and decides what happens next.
-
Several jobs in one box. Sigenergy's Energy Controller combines a solar inverter, a battery charger and the energy-management brain, so there are fewer boxes on the wall.
-
With or without solar. Plenty of our customers have a battery and no solar at all. Already have solar, or on the Feed-in Tariff? We will talk through the best way to connect it.
-
Sized to your home. A range of power ratings for single-phase and three-phase homes.
-
Tough and long-lasting. Weather-rated (IP66), with a 10-year manufacturer warranty.
Works with smart tariffs
Time-of-use tariffs, such as Octopus's, charge less when demand is low, usually overnight. The inverter fills your battery in those cheap hours, then runs your home from it when prices rise. You do not have to do anything.
Your window onto it: the mySigen app
See, live, where your energy is going and how full the battery is, and adjust charging times to suit your tariff. At handover we set it up on your phone and show you around. One customer told us the app is "clear and easy to use".
Keep it connected
The system receives software updates over your internet, and Sigenergy's full warranty expects it to stay online. A short wifi wobble is not a problem.
Part three: the gateway (optional)

A battery on its own will save you money every day. The gateway adds peace of mind: if the grid fails, it keeps your chosen circuits running.
What it does
The gateway sits between the grid and your home. In a power cut it automatically disconnects you from the grid and powers your backed-up circuits from the battery, and from solar if the sun is out. It is designed to switch so quickly that you may not notice. When the grid comes back, it switches back on its own.
Is it right for you?
-
Worth having if you get regular power cuts, work from home, rely on medical equipment, or keep a lot in the freezer.
-
Can wait if your main aim is lower bills. The gateway is an optional, separately priced extra. Without one, the battery still saves you money; it just will not power your home in a cut.
What to know before you choose
-
Whole home or chosen circuits. We agree with you at survey which circuits are backed up. High-power appliances like electric showers and ovens may not be included.
-
How long it lasts depends on how full the battery is and what you are running.
-
It can be added later. Not sure yet? We will talk through whether your installation can leave that option open.
"I now save around 70% on my energy bills and have vital backup power during the frequent power cuts we get in our area. It's not just a nice-to-have, it's peace of mind." Duncan, Poundbury, Dorchester
Individual results vary. Savings depend on your usage, your tariff and your system.
Why Evoflo?

Our mission is to help customers save money on their energy and reduce their environmental footprint. Evoflo is a small Dorset team led by Julian Morency. We install home batteries, solar and EV chargers across Devon, Dorset and Somerset.
-
Clear advice, no hard sell. Honest advice on what a system is likely to do for your home, so you can decide with confidence.
-
Tidy, careful installation. The work is neat, well planned and finished on time. You will meet the people who do it, not a call centre.
-
Still here afterwards. We show you the app and stay in touch to help you get the best from your system.
What happens from here
-
Ask us anything about your quote or this guide.
-
Confirm your quote. We agree the final equipment, price and installation details.
-
We do the paperwork, including the application to your local electricity network operator.
-
Install and handover. We install and commission your system, then show you how to use it.

Good to know

Do I need solar panels?
No. A battery on its own charges from the grid when electricity is cheap, and many of our customers have exactly that. If you add solar later, the same system can use it.
Can I add to it later?
Yes. The system is modular, so you can add battery modules down the line, and solar too. We will check what is possible on your installation at the time.
Is it safe in the house?
The batteries use lithium iron phosphate cells with several layers of built-in protection, and the installation is carried out and tested by qualified electricians. We agree the location with you at survey.
How long will it last?
Sigenergy gives a 10-year manufacturer warranty on the battery modules and the inverter. Like any battery, the modules slowly lose some capacity with use. The warranty sets out the level Sigenergy guarantees.
What if my wifi drops?
A short interruption is not a problem. Sigenergy's full warranty does expect the system to stay connected for software updates, so keep it online.
What if something goes wrong?
Call us first. We installed it, and we will tell you the quickest way to get it sorted, including any manufacturer warranty claim.
Will it work in a power cut?
Only if your system includes the gateway. Without it, the battery saves you money but does not power your home during an outage.
How much will I save?
It depends on how much electricity you use, when you use it and which tariff you are on. Your quote or proposal sets out what we expect for your home. We show our working, and no one can guarantee savings.
The small print
This guide is general information to help you understand a Sigenergy system. Your quote or proposal is the definitive description of what you are getting, including the exact models, quantities, price and warranty terms.
Product information comes from Sigenergy's published data and warranty documents, checked in October 2026. Manufacturers update their products and terms from time to time, and the warranty in force at the time of purchase applies. The gateway switchover speed is the manufacturer's rating under its test conditions.
All performance claims are non-guaranteed. Actual savings depend on your usage, the weather and future tariffs. Customer comments are their own experience and individual results vary.
